About

InstitutoXIS is a non-profit organization that acts as a hub for knowledge and coordination between the tourism sector, sustainability experts and civil society actors.

It also develops methodologies, indicators and verification processes to ensure that hotels and tourist resorts adopt environmental, social and governance standards in line with the best national and international practices.

The XIS Institute also promotes training, research and engagement in the sector, encouraging the transition to a low-carbon economy, the valorization of local communities and transparency in the communication of socio-environmental results.

Vision

Until 2030 make the Brazil world reference in tourism bottom carbon, being a vector of growth economic, fighting to changes climate and nclusion social, in alignment with the goals of SDG 1, 2, 8 e 13.

Who we are

PRISCILA BENTES
PRESIDENT

She has a degree in Fine Arts and Visual Communication from PUC-RJ and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from UFSC. Founding partner of Circuito Elegante in 2003. Responsible for creating the Safe&Clean labels in partnership with Bureau Veritas and the XIS ESG sustainability label for tourism.

Aline Schneiders
VICE-PRESIDENT

Director of ESG Certification at SeloXis. She is GRI certified, a doctoral student in regenerative agriculture at Unicamp, coordinator of postgraduate courses in sustainability and ESG and a mentor and consultant in ESG incorporation.

CRISTIANA GOUVÊA
Director of Social Projects

Cristiana Gouvêa is a journalist and advertising graduate from PUC-RJ, with over two decades of experience in communication and social responsibility. With a career dedicated to responsible communication and the development of purposeful projects, Cristiana brings to SeloXIS her vast experience in articulating narratives that connect companies to relevant social causes.

Andrea Aymar

A journalist, she worked as a communications advisor for public companies and the Federal Government for more than 20 years in Brasília. In 2016, she radically changed her life and, together with her partner and photographer, Regina Santos, they decided to land in the paradise called Alter do Chão and found the first boutique pousada in Pará. The aim of looking after people interested in having unforgettable experiences in the Amazon with charm and without sacrificing comfort became a philosophy of welcoming and hospitality with soul. In 2019, Vila de Alter was awarded the Travelers Choice title by TripAdvisor as one of the 25 best pousadas in Brazil. The pousada, which was born with a sustainable DNA and is committed to preserving the Amazon, was one of the first properties in the Elegant Circuit to obtain the XIS environmental certification seal in 2023.

Breno Veiga

Breno Veiga has been working in Agroforestry Systems for over a decade, developing projects ranging from urban gardens to rural areas, and promoting soil regeneration through innovative practices. Since 2021, he has specialized in integrating blockchain solutions, opening up new avenues for tokenization and climate finance. At the head of the Ekonavi platform, it has already enabled hundreds of initiatives, driven by innovation and community engagement, contributing to a more sustainable and abundant world. With a presence on five continents, Ekonavi has extensive international experience in the socio-environmental development of the planet.

Carla Branco

PhD student in Psychoanalysis, Health and Society. Psychologist, Administrator and Master in Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources Management, she works as a consultant and mentor. She teaches at Ibmec Online, where she is also the technical coordinator of the MBAs in ESG, Leadership, Innovation and Technology and People Management. She is also a lecturer at IAG/PUC-Rio and FGV and a tutor for the MBA courses in People, Business and Agribusiness Management at PECEGE/ESALQ (USP). With over 20 years' experience as an executive in the Third Sector, she was the manager of the NAVE program, developed in a public-private partnership, considered by Microsoft and the Qatar Foundation to be one of the most innovative education initiatives in the world.

Jéssica Héllen

Jéssica Héllen Gomes is a PhD student in Agricultural Engineering at UNICAMP, with a master's degree in the same field and a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from PUC-Campinas. She specializes in sustainability, with a focus on soil management and tourism. She has more than 5 years' experience in the development and ESG certification of tourism and real estate projects, as well as working extensively in sustainability consultancies and audits.

Luiza V. Figueira de Mello

Luiza V. Figueira de Mello is a communicator, entrepreneur and activist - a creator of possible futures who combines purpose, sensitivity and strategy. She believes in affection as a social technology and in care as a transforming force. She works where people, ideas and territories meet to generate belonging and regeneration. She is the founder and creator of the R.evolution Club - a digital ecosystem that, through a living community, organizes and inspires the new culture of good living. The creator of R.evolution Fest and Polo Pindorama (southern Bahia), she has been connecting technology, ancestry and regeneration to transform realities with affection and vision. Revolutionary by nature, she opens paths for what has no name yet.

Manoela Poroger

Manoela Poroger is an art director and communications professional, recognized for her work in the high-end tourism sector. She is responsible for the art direction of Circuito Elegante magazine, a biannual publication that values exclusive destinations, sophisticated experiences and a lifestyle aligned with sustainability. With a degree in Hotel Management from Estácio de Sá and an MBA in Marketing from ESPM, Manoela combines strategic vision and refined aesthetics in her editorial and branding projects.

Monica Valladão

Mônica Valladão has a degree in Tourism and an MBA in Communication and Marketing. She is the service director at Circuito Elegante and works with a focus on the customer experience and valuing practices that integrate hospitality, purpose and socio-environmental responsibility.

Renato Schermann Ximenes de Melo

Renato Ximenes is a lawyer who worked for two decades building the Mattos Filho law firm, a benchmark in Brazilian law, where he led the financial regulation and innovation practice. Throughout this career, he has advised institutions, publicly traded companies and organized markets, as well as contributing to publications and courses aimed at professionals and regulators in Brazil and abroad. In 2018, he moved to New Zealand, where he took a postgraduate course in Public Policy and was part of an initiative to create infrastructure for investments in environmental regeneration. He is currently a partner at XiCa - Ximenes, Camargo Advogados, alongside Bruno Ferraz de Camargo. The firm advises businesses and investments on the transition to a new green economy, focusing on law, regeneration and finance.

Silmara Américo

CEO of the e* Group, Silmara Américo has been at the helm of the Vila Kalango and Rancho do Peixe lodges for around 20 years. Throughout her career, she has actively contributed to structuring impact businesses based on ESG principles. Her work involves strengthening partnerships with local communities and associations, promoting sustainable practices, valuing local culture and the role of local people. She has a degree in Business Administration and a degree in Law. She has extensive experience in hotel management, having worked in all operational, administrative and financial areas of the sector. Her great passion is human relationships, believing in the power of connections and management with purpose.
